- Apple announced the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, its latest smartphones for the mainstream market.
- The new iPhones are cheaper and have more available colors than the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
- They will likely be available in the Philippines in October 2023.
Apart from their latest flagship Pro models, Apple also announced the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. These phones are clearly meant more for the mainstream market. They are cheaper and have more available colors than the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, including yellow, pink, green, and blue.
In other words, they look more like phones for ordinary people.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus carry a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display, respectively, with a screen resolutions of 2532×1170 pixels. These displays are protected by a new Ceramic Shield front cover that’s noted to be a lot better than the previous iteration.
Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, both units are powered by the A16 Bionic chip, yet another one of Apple’s custom silicon offerings. It’s said to be up to 40 percent faster than the A15 Bionic chip in the old iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max.
Speaking of the older models, these new ones also feature the Dynamic Island, Apple’s fancy way of doing the notch. As Apple puts it, it can be seen as an innovative way to interact with important alerts and Live Activities. The reality is, it is indeed a notch.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus seem to be more for people who don’t necessarily need all the Pro features in the more expensive models. They are still great smartphones with a powerful computing chip, a great camera system, and a gorgeous display. So if you’re looking for more affordable iPhone options, they might just do the trick.
If these have piqued your interest, the iPhone 15 will start at PHP 56,990 for the 128GB model, while the iPhone 15 Plus will start at PHP 63,990 for the same storage capacity. Both phones will go on pre-order first this September 15 and will start shipping on September 22. As for local availability, expect them to arrive around October to November 2023.
