Apple finally got around to removing the old Lightning port on the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, but they didn’t stop there. The Cupertino tech giant also extended its charging port cleanup to the portable AirPods Pro 2.
As of today, a new variant of the AirPods Pro 2 will be sold on the market without a Lightning port built in. Instead, there will be a USB-C charging port, similar to the one that was added on the newest iPhones and the ones that are already present on iPads and MacBooks.
We say similar because these ports may not be exactly the same. But functionally, they are indeed of the USB-C variety. This should make it even easier to charge them using any random charger that might be in your bag or anywhere in your house.
The new AirPods Pro 2 are powered by the Apple H2 chip, which has enabled certain features like spatial audio and adaptive EQ. It also comes with dust, sweat, and water resistance, and up to 6 hours of battery life with a single charge.
The new AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C connector will be available through Apple for Php 14,990 apiece. That may be quite a steep premium, but for those who can’t live without their earphones, it is one of the best portable options out there.
