If the Magic Vs foldable represents the first part of Honor‘s new “dual flagship” strategy for 2023, here’s the second part: the Honor Magic5 Pro. It is a flagship’s flagship, from the looks of it. And even though it has only been officially out for a day – at most – it has already set a Guinness World Record with its AI-enhanced camera.
The Magic5 Pro comes with a highly prominent triple camera setup at the back called the Star Wheel. It’s a triple-50-megapixel affair that takes the company’s previous Eye of Muse camera ring setup one step further. Honor CEO George Zhao describes it as the company’s “latest flagship all-rounder.”
What makes the Star Wheel different
To make a long story short, it offers built-in Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on the main cam, improved aperture on the ultrawide cam, and a much better periscope cam with up to 3.5x optical magnification and Ultra Fusion Computation Optics. That last one gives it the power to go up to 100x further in digital zoom.
The role that AI plays with this camera may or may not matter – depending on how a user, well, uses it – but at least it has been confirmed to be officially capable of helping to set a record. In partnership with the Guinness World Records, the Magic5 Pro was designated as the official camera to capture the attempt at the World’s Highest Between the Legs Slam Dunk record.
And it succeeded. Can’t name many phone cameras that are fast enough and smart enough to be able to do that. But the Magic5 Pro is.

Honor Magic5 – Less pro version
There’s also a slightly less powerful and more affordable version called the Magic5. It has a smaller screen at 6.73 inches and less RAM and storage – 8GB + 256GB only. It uses the same exact chipset, however, so it’s no less powerful than the Pro version.
Availability and price
The high-end Honor Magic5 Pro and Honor Magic5 will become available in Q2 2023 – so mark your calendars for April to June. For the Pro model, the retail price is set to $1,270 or about Php 70,200. Meanwhile, the Honor Magic5 will be a bit cheaper at only $950 or about $52,500. We will stand by for the official local release info.
