LG has announced its decision to forego this year’s edition of the Mobile World Congress expo in Barcelona, Spain, citing fears of potential contact with the deadly Novel Coronavirus. The Korea-based electronics giant issued a statement reflecting its thoughts on the matter through its official website.

“With the safety of its employees, partners and customers foremost in mind, LG has decided to withdraw from exhibiting and participating in MWC 2020 later this month in Barcelona, Spain,” said LG. “This decision removes the risk of exposing hundreds of LG employees to international travel which has already become more restrictive as the virus continues to spread across borders.”

Since it won’t be attending the annual expo, LG will not be able to showcase its newest products to the world for the time being. Anyone waiting on the newest addition to LG’s V series phones or ThinQ lineup will have to wait a while.

With that said, LG promises to hold separate events in the near future to announce its 2020 mobile products. Perhaps the company will wait until such time that the global coronavirus scare mellows out. For now, it might be fair to say that they will be tuned in to the news for updates on the global epidemic, just like the rest of us.
