Looking for a new pair of cans to go with your iPhone 11 Pro? Perhaps a certain kind of “Pro” in-ear headphones might be what you need.
It just so happens that Apple itself has come out with a brand new product, called the AirPods Pro, which is said to take the standard AirPods model up to a higher level.
The main draw of the AirPods Pro, according to Apple, is its Active Noise Cancellation feature. It also boasts a few other enhancements over the standard model of AirPods, such as Adaptive EQ, Transparency mode, and flexible silicone ear tips that conform to the contours of a user’s ears. Purely based on that, it sure sounds impressive.
Active Noise Cancellation on the AirPods Pro is achieved through the use of two separate mics and some software magic, and it works through either music or phone calls. Meanwhile, Adaptive EQ works to automatically tune a track’s low- and mid-range frequencies to sound best to any individual’s ear.
Other features include Voice-activate Siri, Audio Sharing, Announce Messages, and the intriguingly fascinating Ear Tip Fit Test. Apple says that the AirPods Pro uses advanced algorithms to do certain things like compare the sound level in your ear to that of the sound outside. The end result is perfectly fitting ear tips no matter what.
In terms of actual performance, it might be subjective but on paper, the AirPods Pro seems to be complete — for something of its form factor. It may have been announced without much fanfare, on paper it looks more than halfway decent.
As of right now, it hasn’t been released yet. But it’s already available for order in the US as well as a number of other countries. It’s scheduled to finally arrive on October 30.
