The 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy Fold has now arrived in local stores. Nearly eight months after it was first debuted at the Galaxy Unpacked event where the world met the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, it can now be bought in the Philippines.

This foldable model is, for lack of a better term, one of a kind in today’s market for smartphones. It’s packed with high-end features, next-gen hardware, and a massive 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED display that folds in half in two seconds or less.

The model that’s available locally can be found in certain stalls in Greenhills Shopping Center, located in San Juan, Metro Manila. But as it turns out, they can also be bought online for the price of Php 123,000 each. That comes out to almost $2,400 USD. Today’s latest and greatest sure doesn’t come cheap.

Top features of the Galaxy Fold include 12GB RAM, 512GB storage, a total of five individual cameras, and Android 9 Pie. Sure, it’s a phone, but if you go through its list of specs one by one, you could easily mistake it for some kind of hybrid laptop. It may not be the kind that could be easily recommended for everyone, but still.

It appears that the local Galaxy Fold 5G units were acquired from Korea, as evidenced by the Korean markings and stickers that appear on the outer part of their retail boxes. Whether local 5G networks can really support them is another question entirely. It might be a good idea to swing by the stores that carry them right now if you’ve got the time.
