Taking a page right out of Nintendo’s book, Sony has announced that it plans to release an updated version of one of the best-selling and most recognizable home gaming consoles of all time. The Sony PlayStation Classic is a reimagined version of the beloved gaming console that you likely grew up on. It’s a lot smaller but looks pretty much identical to the original, and it comes with 20 classic PlayStation titled.
Officially, Sony describes the PlayStation Classic as a “mini console,” and it is said to be approximately 45 percent smaller than the original. Of course, despite its small size, it can run any and all classic PlayStation games through emulation.
Some of the preloaded titles include Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, and Ridge Racer Type 4. The full list is supported games is forthcoming. And there will be two PS1 controllers included in every PlayStation Classic bundle as standard, with full support for local multiplayer.
It all might seem great so far, but we haven’t even mentioned the best part: the PlayStation Classic is going to be priced only $99.99 or around Php 5,400 when it comes out on December 3. Availability will be limited to just the U.S. and Canada through select retailers, but if and when it gets to other countries such as the Philippines, it should be well within your reach. We certainly will be among those looking to get our hands on it as soon as possible.
