That big and bold Predator Triton 700 ultra-thin gaming laptop that Acer just announced may be the new hotness, but it isn’t for everyone. We mean, if that 250k price tag wasn’t any indication, it’s configured mainly for a very specific type of gamer. But what about the rest of us, you may cry. Well, fortunately, Acer’s got that covered. Announced at today’s next@acer global launch event held in New York City, Acer’s new Predator Helios 300 series takes care more of the mainstream laptop gamers’s market. Here’s what you need to know.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is Acer’s latest series of gaming laptops, and are two model sizes: 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch. They run on 7th-gen Intel Core i7 or Core i5 processors (standard-voltage), offer fast wireless connectivity and solid state drives for storage. But the best thing about them is that they come equipped with overclockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050ti GPUs.

This is the point where we pinch you because you might be wondering whether you might be dreaming. But no, Acer’s newest gaming laptops under the Predator Helios 300 line really do come with GPUs that you can overclock. This would allow you to get more performance out of them without paying anything extra. Acer makes this possible thanks to the use of Dual Aeroblade 3D fans along with PredatorSense software, so you can turn up the power of the graphics chips while keeping things nice and cool as you play.

All this sounds amazing, doesn’t it? That’s just Acer’s promise. In terms of connectivity, there are built-in ports for USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0. There’s even an HDMI 2.0 port onboard. And even though Predator Helios 300 notebooks come with fast 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, there’s a built-in Gigabit Ethernet port.

There are more features included in the standard package for either one of the two size models, but the actual retail configurations, which will vary per region, haven’t been revealed yet. For now, all we know is that both the 15.6-inch and the 17.3-inch versions of the Predator Helios 300 will become available in North America first in July, with a subsequent EMEA release in August, and a final China release in June

The 15.6-inch models will start at $1,299 or around Php 65,000, while the 17.3-inch models are priced starting from $1,399 or around Php 70,000.

We are looking forward to seeing these powerful matte monsters!
