If the only thing that’s keeping you from getting a smartwatch is the unconventional styling, you’ve just officially run out of excuses. Fossil has finally launched a whole line of proper-looking watches, all of which carry enough smarts to be deemed worth of being called smartwatches. That is, they’re powered by Android Wear, and can be paired to any compatible smartphone through an app with the use of Bluetooth 4.1 wireless. They’re all glass and metal or leather, plus a little plastic, and they’re all relatively affordable. Details, specs, and prices are posted after the break.
Fossil Q Wander
First up, Fossil has two new full-fledged Android smartwatches in the form of the Fossil Q Wander and Fossil Q Marshall. Both models come with round touchscreen displays, metal casings with choices of either metal or leather straps, wireless charging, and IP67 water and dust resistance.
Other features include built-in fitness tracking despite the lack of a heart rate sensor, pedometer, or sleep tracker. The smartwatches also have a built-in microphone and speaker set for phone calls, the ability to display texts, emails, and even reply to them, and customizable watch faces.
According to the official press release, both the Q Wander and Q Marshall offer 24 hours of battery life, and have built-in g-sensors and gyroscopes. Pricing starts at 16,000 Peso for each one and will depend on choice of watch and strap materials.
Fossil Q hybrid watches
Also part of the Fossil launch are a number of so-called hybrid watches. These watches feature the design of actual traditional wrist watches, but can be paired with smartphones through Fossil’s own mobile pairing app. Hybrid watches come with replaceable batteries that last up to 6 months.
Pricing for the Fossil Q Hybrid watches starts at 10,300 Pesos. All models can be purchased through all Fossil stores, WSI stories, and selected L Timestudio and Wristpod stores.
